Second Edition of Vassilis Sgoutas “An Athenian on His City” Now Available
The UIA proudly announces the publication of the second edition of “An Athenian on His City” (ΕΝΑΣ ΑΘΗΝΑΙΟΣ ΓΙΑ ΤΗΝ ΠΟΛΗ ΤΟΥ) by Vassilis Sgoutas, Honorary President of the UIA. This insightful book, comprising 126 short chapters, offers an in-depth look at various projects in Athens, both completed and planned, as well as the urban functional and social realities of the city.
Empowering the Next Generation in Participatory Urban Design
World Architecture Day (WAD), created by the International Union of Architects (UIA) in 1985, is celebrated annually on the first Monday of October. This day coincides with the United Nations World Habitat Day, aligning the architectural community’s efforts with global urban development goals.
Eduardo Elkouss, who sadly passed away in Torrevieja, Spain, on 14th June 2024, had been a very active and enthusiastic participant in the UIA Architecture for All (AfA) Work Programme since its foundation in 1999.
The first half of 2024 was an intensive and productive work period. One year after the Copenhagen Congress and the General Assembly, the UIA Council has defined priorities, initiated projects, formulated a vision and goals for the reorganisation of the UIA with the aim of improving its governance.
The 2024 edition of the International VELUX Award, a biannual international student ideas competition endorsed by the UIA since 2004, has announced its Regional Winners.
