The Austrian Chamber of Architects proudly presents the winners of the anoTHERVIEWture AWARD 2024, an initiative dedicated to recognizing outstanding contributions by women in the building industry. Now in its second edition, the award celebrates excellence across four categories, honoring professionals whose work shapes the future of architecture and engineering.
The award ceremony took place on October 24, 2024, at the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna. A short aftermovie of the event is available here.
Female Architect of the Year
Winner: Susanne Veit-Aschenbrenner
statement of the jury | The three projects – a new church building, a conversion and redensification by a kindergarten and an exhibition design – show a work of great variety and strength in different scales and building tasks. The jury was impressed by the natural integration into the context and the careful treatment of the existing building. The clear and significant design on the outside creates a surprisingly spatial quality and complexity on the inside, enhanced by the clever use of light and materials.
The architecture on show is therefore timeless in the best sense of the word and has a lasting effect.

Emerging Female Architect of the Year
Winner: Eva Maria Hierzer
statement of the jury | Her projects are deeply focused on the relationship between place and scale. By integrating new possibilities into existing buildings, they enhance the quality of spaces and create innovative transitions between interior and exterior environments. The buildings adapt harmoniously to their surroundings, introducing new and intriguing spatial dynamics.
Her work demonstrates a strong sense of social responsibility, with a focus on the needs of people in various settings, such as schools and hospitals. The form and positioning of new additions, particularly in the school building project, complement rather than compete with the original structures, highlighting and enhancing their presence. The buildings exhibit a timeless quality in their design.
A visionary approach is evident in the way she intervenes with existing architecture, offering fresh perspectives on how to adapt and rejuvenate them.

National / International Engineering Achievement of the Year
Winner: Johanna Arnold
statement of the jury | The submitted project “Technology Park – Multifunctional Office Building in Bad Aibling” shows an innovative and consistent approach to timber construction. The project consists of prefabricated timber modules that are not permanently connected to each other. This makes them recyclable and enables a resource-saving, recyclable and flexible construction method. The planning of the prefabricated components enables time-saving and cost-effective implementation. The desired architectural project was implemented in an excellent structural manner in the present work.
