Rio 2016 Olympic Park Competition

The city Government of the Rio de Janeiro in collaboration with the Brazilian Institute of Architects-Rio de Janeiro announce an open, anonymous international competition in a single phase for the general urban plan of the Rio 2016 Olympic Park.

This competition is organized to select the best master plan for the Rio 2016 Olympic Park to relocated at Barra da Tijuca.

The Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be a sports celebration, which shall serve as a turning point for transformation, assuring a sustainable legacy to the city bringing about the development of solutions to improve the urban environment and quality of life of it’s citizens.


Rehabilitation of Place Lalla Yeddouna

The Agency of Partnership for Progress (APP), with its implementing partner, the Agency for the Development and Rehabilitation of the city of Fez (ADER-Fès), is issuing this competition for the design of a site in the Medina of Fez, Morocco, known as Place Lalla Yeddouna.
The competition is being conducted in the context of an international development program funded by the United States of America, acting through the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), in accordance with the Millennium Challenge Compact (the “Compact”) signed on August 31, 2007, between the United States of America and the Kingdom of Morocco.


Centre for the Promotion of Science

This Competition is organized by the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) supported by the Association of Serbian Architects and the Association of Belgrade Architects.
The competition was approved by the UIA in compliance with UNESCO Revised Recommendations for International Architectural and Urban-Planning Competitions.


International Business Centre and Intercontinental Hotel in Yerevan City Centre

Avangard Motors LLC in conjunction with Yerevan City Hall and the Union of Architects of the Republic of Armenia, along with the participation of the Ministry of Urban Development of the Republic of Armenia, the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia, and the International Association of Unions of Architects (UIA) has announced an international competition for the development of an Architectural concept for an International Business Center with an Intercontinental Hotel in the City of Yerevan.
The goal of the competition is to realize a new and original urban development project that is both architecturally and functionally integrated into the surrounding cityscape.


Bering Strait – Interconnection and communication

The Bering project is a large scale project by which railroad systems and ocean driveways of world-wide nations are to be connected right at the Bering Strait between North America and Eurasia Continents. Through this unprecedented projects, east and west hemisphere can be link with this connection which will recover the discontinuity of nation, human and culture. The promoter hopes that a long-pending hostility and conflict could be cleared up by the communication obtained as a result, and thus, mutual cooperation can be realized.

The Foundation for Peace and Unification (FPU) is announcing the International ideas competition for the Bering project approved by the International Union fo Architects (UIA) in order to let the world know about this intention and to stimulate their interest and participation in the competition.


Headquarters of the World Health Organisation (WHO)

The objective of this competition was to construct a new headquarters for the World Health Organization (WHO) for around 1,000 civil servants.

This competition was approved by the International Union of Architects (UIA).




Monument to the victims of the Dachau concentration camp

The International Committee of Dachau Elders organised a competition to build a monument on the camp’s former roll-call square to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its liberation.

The competition had the patronage of the International Dachau Committee and the approval of the International Union of Architects (UIA).


Auschwitz Holocaust Memorial

This international competition was organised to design a memorial on the site of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in Poland. 

The competition was organised over two stages by the International Auschwitz Committee with the technical assistance of the International Union of Architects (UIA). 


Toronto City Hall

In 1956, the decision to hold an international competition for a new city hall over two stages was made by Dr. Eric Ross Arthur, a Canadian architect.

This competition was approved by the International Union of Architects (UIA).
