Theme and objectives
The aim of the competition was to commemorate all victims from all countries who perished in this concentration camp.
This monument was to be erected on the former camp muster square. The monument was intended to convey to future generations the bravery of the victims in detention and love for one’s neighbour. The monument also had to be sober and fit with the image of the camp at the time of liberation in April 1945.
