The International Union of Architects (UIA) is pleased to announce the results of the fourth edition of the Friendly and Inclusive Spaces Awards, organised by itsArchitecture for All (AfA) Work Programme.
TheOslo School of Architecture and Design(AHO) presents a talk by professor emeritus Per Olaf Fjeld “Rethinking Relationships / Changing Perspectives” as part of the Daylight Talks 2023 series. The talk is presented by architect and associate professor Kathrine Næss and is available today.

2 May 2023 – Results of the UIA Golden Cubes Awards
Created to honour people and/or organisations that help children and young people to understand architecture and the built environment better, this prize is awarded in 4 categories: Institutions, Schools, Written Media and Audio-Visual Media.
26 April 2023 – Results of the UIA International Innovative Health Design Awards
The Awards were open to all practising architects and architecture academics, and participants were invited to submit entries in one of two categories ‘Built Work’ and ‘Theoretical Work’.
21 April 2023 – Results of the UIA Award for Innovation in Architectural Education, 2nd Edition (focus on UN SDGs)
Open to colleges, schools, departments, and programmes of architecture worldwide, the second edition of the UIA Award for Innovation in Architectural Education recognises excellence in architectural and urban design education, focusing on innovative pedagogies that foster contributions to realising the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals across the five UIA regions, while reflecting their broad diversity.
19 April 2023 – Competition results: Requalification of Byrsa Acropolis and Rehabilitation of the Carthage National Museum
BEZ+KOCK ARCHITEKTEN represented by Thorsten Kock in consortium with Koeber Landschaftsarchitecture and Grauwald Studio has received first prize in the international one-stage design competition for the Requalification of Byrsa Acropolis and Rehabilitation of the Carthage National Museum in Tunisia.
The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Union of Architects of Azerbaijan (UAA) have launched the Sixth Edition of the Baku International Architecture Award. This biennial award, open to all qualified architects in the world and endorsed by the UIA since 2013, seeks to discover new ideas for the development and implementation of urban planning and architectural designs.
Daylight Talks returns for 2023 – continuing to explore the significance of using natural light in architecture in partnership with prominent architectural schools around the world. First in the series is the Daylight Talk ‘Lightscapes’ by Fuensanta Nieto, founding partner of Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos, in collaboration with IE School of Architecture & Design in Madrid. Professor and former Dean, Martha Thorne presents the talk.
28 February 2023 – UIA Gold Medal and Triennial Prizes
Nominations are open for the UIA Gold Medal and Triennial Prizes. Winners will be announced during the UIA World Congress of Architects taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark this July. The UIA Gold Medal is the most prestigious prize for an architect, attributed by architects.
21 February 2023 – UIA Guidebook for the 2030 Agenda
The International Union of Architects Sustainable Development Goals Commission (SDG) has announced the Call for Proposals for the 2023 version of the “UIA Guidebook for the 2030 Agenda”. This publication is inspired by “An Architecture Guide to the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals”, which has 2 volumes published in 2018 and 2020.

The UIA has launched the 4th edition of its Friendly and Inclusive Spaces Awards. Organised by its Architecture for All Work Programme (AfA), the Awards were established to promote inspiring buildings and sites that have created socially sustainable environments through high quality architectural design.
